I used to make fried plantains all the time. They are wonderfully versatile. You can salt them and have them as a side dish or sugar them for a yummy dessert. When I was picking up some bananas to make little miss her food, I saw a plantain and it called to me. I wanted to share this yummy little snack with you!
I adapted this recipe from Food Network. 1 plantain will feed two {if you feel like sharing}.
1 plantain
3 Tbsp butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
Slice your plantain into 1/2 inch slices. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the plantains to the pan.
I fried them for about 5 minutes on each side. You want them to be nice and browned.
When done, remove them from the pan onto a plate with a paper towel. Blot them to get the excess butter off.
Put the sugar and cinnamon into a quart zip loc bag and shake to mix. Then, add the fried plantains and shake until coated.
Oh, then you enjoy! :)
{Sorry for the less than great pictures. I was using my iPhone.}
Come party with me!
